“We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.” –Dr. Seuss We are Walker and Katelyn, and we live in Lufkin, TX, with our bulldog, Opal, and our most recent addition, Hazel Jane. At some point in life we became adults. We aren’t sure whether it was after graduation (all 5 of them), when we got married or if it was yesterday. What we do know is that life has the ability to bury us into the trenches of stress and discontent, or it has the pleasure of giving us great freedom and joy in the simple recognition that we are alive.
We are on a journey and the destination is this exact moment, because life doesn’t start when you graduate, have kids or retire. Life will always and only ever start right now. It seems people (us included) are always counting down the days until the next big thing. We don’t want to keep counting, we want to make life count.
Inspired by this life moment, Love in Lufkin is a space where we document our journey through stories, reflections and photographs while we learn how to live—where we capture the big things and the small things, but most importantly all those moments in between that are so often taken for granted.
We laugh and cry, we work and rest, we play and serve—and in all these things we try to be a testimony to the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ.
Join us! We know we have a lot to learn from you!
